Make your own design
The Designtool guides you through the creation of your knitted garment by letting you choose
and combine different alternatives. If you change your mind, you can always start over by returning
to this page. All the choices you make with the help of the Designtool are located in different data bases, for size, style, pattern, motif, etc. The Designtool then gathers and assembles the data for your particular garment. Since the Designtool is totally computerized, the pattern may look different than what you've been used to, but you will find it easy to use. The computer chooses the most economical way to print the charts so as to use as little paper as possible. This is why the squares may vary in size and the charts maybe be printed either vertically or horizontally. You will receive complete charts of the different parts of your sweater or vest -- back, fronts, sleeves -- as well as written knitting instructions and an explanation of the symbols used. If you would like to see the usual knitting abbreviations, click HERE . The charts show how many stitches to cast on and cast off. Each small square in the chart represents one stitch. The squares are also grouped in larger 10 x 10 sections to facilitate counting stitches and rows. The complete patterns and motifs you choose are also shown in the charts by use of symbols. You can see a miniature version of one of our charts -- the fitted sleeve of a child's sweater -- by clicking on Show Chart. At each side of the Designtool screen, where you make your choices, there is a Help button for further information. For example, if you need to check the gauge for different sizes, you can select Help next to the size selection area. If you order yarn from us for the garment you have designed, the knitting pattern is free of charge. But you have the option of ordering the knitting pattern by itself for a small fee. The pattern can be either mailed to you or sent by email. You can at present use the following yarn in the Designtool:
